Title of the Talk: Ultra small RFID chip
technology-current status and
future prospects
Abstract: Ultra-small RFID chip and antenna technology, and their
applications are
described, followed by future prospects. In this
talk, first, technology trends in RFID chip and applications are
briefly
explained. Second, a 0.4mm x 0.4mm RFID chip, which was successfully
used for
the 2005 World Exposition, Aichi,
Japan,
is
explained in terms of antenna and assembling techniques for such as
micro-chip.
It features 2.45GHz operation with high reliability 128-bit ROM ID
written by
electron beam technology without duplication during the fabrication. 22
millions admission-card’s IDs have been developed for use in a
reliable
authentication through a network based secure ID management. Third,
an
extremely small chip developed using silicon on insulator (SOI), only
0.15mm x
0.15mm and 7.5 micron thick is explained in terms of LSI device
technology. Finally,
based on the discussion, future prospects are discussed.
